The Nerdy Stuff

How use:

  • Apply directly to a VERY wet scalp
  • Work into a lather making sure to massage the scalp. This has the added benefit of increasing blood flow to the scalp another key component of healthy hair.
  • Allow to sit on the scalp for 2-3 minutes to give the active ingredients time to work.
  • Rinse
About thinning hair...for nerds:

The main cause of hair loss is the build up of a hormone called Dihydro-testosterone (DTH) a derivative of... testosterone. DTH builds up at the base of the hair follicles and over time causes them to shrink and eventually die.

DTH is formed when Testosterone reacts with the enzyme
5α-Reductase and forms DTH. So one of the main ways to slow the loss of hair is to prevent the formation of 5α-Reductase on the scalp. Both Caffeine and Pumpkin Seed Oil have been proven in multiple studies to stop the formation of DTH by blocking 5α-Reductase production.

Caffeine has the added benefit of lengthening the growth cycle of hair, leading to longer hair strands.

Clean the ocean every time you wash your hair with SeaBar.

FAQs

We tried to answer all the most frequently asked questions, but if you've still got some you can click the little bubble in the bottom corner and ask away, we'll get back to you as fast as we can.

Using a bar of shampoo is a bit different than liquid shampoo, but still super easy. All you have to do is get your hair super wet and glide your SeaBar over your hair 5-10 times. Then, lather up just like you would a liquid shampoo and rinse!

As with any conditioner, you'll want to focus your attention on the ends of your hair. Just swipe your SeaBar over your hair several times and work the conditioner into your hair. Leave it for several minutes before rinsing.

To refill your SeaBar first make sure it is clean, I like to rinse it out in the shower by pulling the bottom off and letting the water run through it. Put the bottom back on and twist it all the way to the bottom before inserting the new bar, hole side down, into the SeaBar

Short answer: Yes.

The two most important aspects of "color safe" shampoos are that they use a mild surfactant (check) and have a pH below 6 (check). We also include Hydrolyzed rice protein in ever formula which reduces fading.

Yes,

In the spirit of full transparency, you should know that "natural" is an arbitrary term... It has no legal definition. "Natural" means basically whatever a marketer wants it to mean.

To us, "All Natural" means that not only are our ingredients derived from natural sources, but they also biodegrade after you wash them down the drain. The only ingredient we use that some people wouldn't consider "natural" is an Eco-Cert Certified preservative. We use it to keep your SeaBar free of mold and bacteria.

Yep, as a Vegan myself, making sure our products are vegan and cruelty-free was very important to me.

Since most shampoos and conditioners are 60-90% water, your SeaBar is HIGHLY concentrated, meaning that it will last a long time. Obviously, it depends on how often you wash and how much hair you have, but most people report it lasts about twice as long as their liquid shampoo.

Your SeaBar holder is made out of plastic. We spent an absurd amount of time and energy trying to figure out a better way... in fact we tried so hard to make it perfect that we almost never got started in the first place. Our goal is to eventually have it made from the plastic we pick from the ocean. However, no manufacturers will work with us until we are ordering tens of thousands at a time. Unfortunately, we aren't there yet, but we will be and when we are it will be awesome!

People don't start things because they are trying to be perfect

Our goal is to make the plastic crisis better. For now at least, our SeaBar holders are made out of plastic. So, we decided to make SeaBar holders a force for good in the world by picking up 64 times as much ocean trash as one SeaBar holder weighs. The $5 we charge pays for those 10 pounds to be picked up. We think it's a pretty good deal, and we hope you do too.

Not at all. All SeaBar products work great with or without a SeaBar Holder.

We partner with a great organization called Pavati Ocean Pickup to pick up our ocean trash. If you go to their site, you'll probably see our founder Greg. That's because he also helped found Pavati Ocean Pickup... You might say he's a bit obsessed with ocean trash.

Please reach out to us we might be able to help.

If you are still unhappy, we have our SeaBar Guarantee, all you have to do is let us know, and we'll refund your purchase. No pointless roadblocks making your refund difficult (like shipping back a used product). That never made much sense to us.
