SeaBar FAQs
How To Use SeaBar Shampoo
Using a bar of shampoo is a bit different than liquid shampoo, but still super easy. All you have to do is get your hair super wet and glide your SeaBar over your hair 5-10 times. Then, lather up just like you would a liquid shampoo and rinse!
How to Use SeaBar Conditioner
As with any conditioner, you'll want to focus your attention on the ends of your hair. Just swipe your SeaBar over your hair several times and work the conditioner into your hair. Leave it for several minutes before rinsing.

To refill your SeaBar first make sure it is clean, I like to rinse it out in the shower by pulling the bottom off and letting the water run through it. Put the bottom back on and twist it all the way to the bottom before inserting the new bar, hole side down, into the SeaBar

The two most important aspects of "color safe" shampoos are that they use a mild surfactant (check) and have a pH below 6 (check). We also include Hydrolyzed proteins in ever formula which reduces fading.
In the spirit of full transparency, you should know that "natural" is an arbitrary term... It has no legal definition. "Natural" means basically whatever a marketer wants it to mean.
To us, "All Natural" means that not only are our ingredients derived from natural sources, but they also biodegrade after you wash them down the drain. The only ingredient we use that some people wouldn't consider "natural" is an Eco-Cert Certified preservative. We use it to keep your SeaBar free of mold and bacteria.
Yep, as a Vegan myself, making sure our products are vegan and cruelty-free was very important to me.
Your SeaBar holder is made out of plastic. We spent an absurd amount of time and energy trying to figure out a better way... in fact we tried so hard to make it perfect that we almost never got started in the first place. Our goal is to eventually have it made from the plastic we pick from the ocean. However, no manufacturers will work with us until we are ordering tens of thousands at a time. Unfortunately, we aren't there yet, but we will be and when we are it will be awesome!
Since most shampoos and conditioners are 60-90% water, your SeaBar is HIGHLY concentrated, meaning that it will last a long time. Obviously, it depends on how often you wash and how much hair you have, but most people report it lasts between 2 and 3 times as long as their liquid shampoo.
Your SeaBar holder is made out of 100% recycled polypropylene plastic.

Showers are a very difficult environment to work in. They are hot, humid, and to top it all off good hair care products are acidic... That means metals will corrode, glass can shatter, bamboo...well that's mostly glue anyway...
I've been using the original SeaBar applicator I started testing with for over 3 years now and it's still going strong... I'd say that is pretty environmentally friendly.
No, you don't, but SeaBar has been formulated to work best using an applicator.
At first we picked up the trash ourselves on the beaches near our home in Bellingham Washington.
Greg's sister used to live in the Phillipines and when she posted about SeaBar on her Facebook page her old roommates, husbands, brother-in-law Michael reached out to Greg and said "I like what you are doing, can I help"
So we set up a crew that we work with in the Philippines as well.
